red marbles.

Sometimes an outfit just comes to you—even if it's just one of your favorite dresses with some bright tights & a new pair of shoes.

I'm wearing:
Blazer: Gap
Dress: shop in Camden, London
Tights: Target
Wedges: Calvin Klein via Nordstrom Rack
Necklace: had it for forever
Headband: ModCloth (free gift with purchase)
Makeup: NARS Edie Set

I took these photos first thing in the morning before I went to work which is why a) my hair looks awesome, b) all my attempts at smiling failed, and c) for some reason I decided not to include my scarf & bag which I realized later was a bad decision because it looked good together.

I have had this little marble pendant for as long as I can remember—I always thought it was so cool that the marble was trapped inside that little silver sphere. I'm glad I've been able to hold onto it for all these years.

And sometimes, you just need to wear brightly colored tights to the corporate office.

Have a great end of the week!

peach & gold.

Happy Wednesday! At least the week is halfway over.
I can't think of anything witty or interesting to say, so onto the outfit!

I'm wearing:
Sweater: Gap
Jeans: Old Navy
Boots: DSW
Necklace: DIY'd
Clutch: Deux Lux

I love how this outfit turned out—it was the perfect casual Friday outfit, comfy & work appropriate. I love the color of this sweater but unfortunately it's starting to pill & shed really badly. But can we talk about how cute this clutch is?! I saw it on Gilt & I had to have it. It's so perfect for spring, and it's a really good size. I also really like how my makeup turned out; it turns out gold & peach is a really good color combination.

Today was a really good mail day—I got the materials for my cousin's save the dates (which I designed and am printing, along with all the other wedding materials!), one of my favorite prints I got on sale from 55 Hi's and a couple freebie prints, and my ideeli order with a pair of studded loafers & a polka dot sweater! Coming soon to the blog, of course.

How's your week going so far?

fancied up.

Is it just me, or did this weekend go by way too fast? It could've been that I had to do some work on both Saturday & Sunday, and usually keeping work away from my weekends is one of my big sticking points. Alas, it was unavoidable this weekend because there is so much going on. I've been working around nine hours each day the past two–three weeks (with little to no break), and I'll be really glad when things calm down a bit. I've convinced myself things will calm down a bit soon, hopefully after this week.

Last night I went to an Oscar party that I photographed for work, so I got to get a little fancied up. I hadn't worn this dress in forever, so I decided it was time to bring it out.

Photos by my boyfriend.
I'm wearing:
Dress: Oasis
Belt: Oasis
Boots: DSW
Satchel: Moda Lux via Ideeli
Necklace: was my grandmother's
Eyeshadow(s): Urban Decay
Lipstick: NYX Cosmetics

I spent about a week or so last month trying to find the perfect satchel—not too expensive, but good quality, appropriate for work and non-work, big enough to fit my essentials but not overwhelming—and then I found this beauty on Ideeli and took the plunge (it was an affordable plunge at $52). One of my coworkers introduced me to Ideeli and it is both wonderful and dangerous. I have another purchase coming soon from them, I'm so excited! But anyways, I love this bag—it's exactly what I was looking for!

And yes, I will keep wearing my Nike+ Fuelband as an accessory. I surpassed all of my goals today on Nike+ Fuel and hit 4,657 fuel in one day! Do you have a Nike+ Fuelband?

Now off to make some more progress on my to do list before bedtime! Hope you're having a great week!

cool things of the week #8

It's almost the end of the week! Time to round up some nifty things I've found lately. And this post is long overdue!

I almost could not believe my eyes when I saw this. But it's totally real, and amazing. You can draw in 3D!!! It's currently under development and available for backing on Kickstarter—definitely watch the video if nothing else. It's amazing how far technology has come, especially with 3D printing, and this would make it much more easily accessible to the general public.

I love puns, and I love cats. Cat puns? I'm sold. Now someone buy me this t-shirt right meow!

This infographic is not only informative and well designed, but so cute! I feel like having the little character really pushes it over the edge and makes it more relatable. There's also some really good information that's presented in a clear, concise way. Click here to see it full size!

I grew up playing Tetris on my Gameboy (which I still have, somewhere...) so when I saw this it filled me with great joy. Because deep down, I am a nerd. A nerd that loves clothes. And cute, handmade/independent designer clothes? Automatically on my wishlist.

And I leave you with this, which needs no explanation.

Have a great end of the week! Don't forget to tell me about what cool things you've found this week!

cold weather florals.

I've been feeling rather blah about my wardrobe lately, and I think the constant coldness has made me a little lazy about coming up with outfits. At work I'll cycle through similar outfits that I know are work appropriate and comfortable, but I want to work on putting together more outfits that I really like and want to put on the blog.

Anyways, I threw this together on Sunday before going out to brunch with my boyfriend & his parents, and I really like how it turned out.

I'm wearing:
Sweater: ASOS
Dress (worn as skirt): made by me
Tights: Target
Boots: Nordstrom
Pin: antique
Purse: vintage Coach, gifted
Belt: Oasis

Fun fact: it was 28 degrees outside when I took these photos on the balcony. I am getting quite tired of this winter business. As you can probably tell, I'm so ready for spring. I feel like as the weather gets warmer I'll be able to have more fun with my outfits.

Have a great rest of the week!

valentine's red & lace.

Happy Monday! I have the day off for President's Day, it's glorious. This is what I wore out to dinner with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day—we went to the same little bistro in Old Town Occoquan that we went to last year, and it was awesome.

I'm wearing:
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Belt: Threadcase
Wedges: Old Navy
Necklace: 1928 Jewelry
Earrings: thrifted
Purse: vintage Coach

The last time I wore this dress was at our housewarming party last summer, and I'm pretty sure it fits me better now than it did then, which is a good feeling. However, it's waaaaay shorter than I remembered. And yes, I wore summer wedges in February with tights, but I think it worked.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day and a great long weekend! I'm hoping the upcoming week isn't too crazy like last week was.

casual & lace.

I'm aliveeee! I apologize for the lack of posts, but work has been killing me these past two weeks, and on top of that I had a super busy weekend, but busy in a good way. I'm hoping I can get a lot done over the long weekend (including some relaxing) and get back on a regular posting schedule.

Anyways, this is what I wore on Sunday when Hannah, Katie and I got together for a crafternoon (what we call doing crafty stuff)!

Photos by my boyfriend.
I'm wearing:
Top: Urban Outfitters
Shirt: H&M
Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Flats: Born Concept / DSW
Necklace: vendor at craft festival
Bag: Cambridge Satchel Co., gift
Earrings: vintage via QuarterLife

I threw this outfit together really last minute but I love it—I'm trying to downsize the numbers of accessories per outfit and I feel like this outfit has the perfect balance. Also, when my boyfriend was taking these photos the first thing he said was "you look so skinny!" which is always nice to hear.

Have a great rest of the week!
