Crafty Bastards 2013

This past weekend was Crafty Bastards, DC's biggest arts & crafts fair that is full of awesomeness. I wasn't able to go last year so I made sure I went this year. Here are a few snapshots I took of some of the great crafts there.

big red bow.

So, Monday & Tuesday just flew by really quickly. They were both productive days & I got to see two good friends, but I barely had time to work out let alone blog. Anyways, outfit post!

red ModCloth blouse black circle skirt filigree belt 073013x4 073013x5 black leather wedges
I'm wearing:
Blouse: ModCloth
Skirt: Express (gift)
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Wedges: Nordstrom Rack
Cameo ring: vintage

I wore this outfit sometime last month but it's perfect for fall so I thought it was about time to post it. I'm really liking this fall weather, it's so beautiful. I just don't like how it's getting dark so early. But yay for pretty leaves & pumpkin spice lattes!

Have a great rest of the week!

vintage lavender polka dots.

Hellooooo. Back to blogging! This past weekend was so short and yet so long because I did so much. My cousin's wedding went wonderfully & it was a lot of fun. Today's post is going to be short because I am exhausted. I'm training for Tough Mudder and I have a month left, so I've been kicking up my training (which I probably should've done a while ago). So I ran 5 miles in 58 minutes today. My shins are not pleased, but I'm really happy that I did it. I just need to be able to run 10 miles by October.

Anyways, outfit! This is what I wore to the Shop Analog soft opening a few weeks ago. And, perfect timing, their Fall Lookbook came out today! And I'm a model in it! So exciting! (All the exclamation points!)

Photos by my friend Katie.

I'm wearing:
Shoes: DSW
Bag: Cath Kidston
Earrings: Beltway Vintage
Belt: Oasis

So, by the time we got around to taking these photos, Katie & I had been walking around DC all day in 85+ degree weather. Hence the slightly sunburned arms & face (I swear, that one arm has been a blotchy mess all summer). But it was such a fun day & we did so many things. My recap of the Shop Analog opening is here

Now, off to bed for me.
Have a great week!

galaxies.

Back to outfit posts! This week is going to be so crazy but I'm hoping to get some posts in. This weekend is my cousin's wedding which I'm not only a bridesmaid in but I designed all the paper goods (invites, save the dates, menus, etc)! I'm excited to see how everything turns out. But it's going to be a long weekend.

Anyways, outfit post!

I'm wearing:
Dress (worn as skirt): swapped
Shirt: Old Navy
Flats: Ideeli
Belt: eBay
Necklace: LouLou
Earrings: Eastern Market vendor

I got this dress through the ModCloth swap group on Facebook—I'd been looking for a high-low galaxy dress for a while & when I found this I thought why not! But it's pretty low cut and most of the back is see-through—so, t-shirt!

These were taken by Hannah last time we were in Georgetown, when we went to Paper Source's DIY Wedding Workshop, which was great. And then of course coffee & cupcakes at Baked & Wired had to happen. We can't help ourselves when it comes to that place.

Also, one very interesting thing I found on the internets today: this article on Offbeat Bride (inspired by this article) about how DIY can sometimes morph into "Duplicating It Yourself" instead of "Doing It Yourself"—as a designer this really concerns me, especially because I know how common it is. Definitely worth a read.

cool things of the week #12: etsy love.

These necklaces are so gorgeous & perfect for fall—I want one!
A great life lesson that I think I need to print & frame & look at every day.

I've long admired Moorea Seal's jewelry, but these are just stunning & again, perfect for fall.

I love the juxtaposition of the text with the floral illustrations—plus, gorgeous handdrawn type.
And I think this would be a great daily reminder.

You guys know I'm a sucker for nerdy jewelry, and I loooove this ampersand.

Obviously I'm a jewelry & paper goods addict. It's kind of a problem.
