spooky & sweet.

Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm not dressing up this year, but I did want to wear a festive outfit (to cap off a week of seasonally appropriate outfits) and decided to make a dress just for Halloween!

Photos by my husband.

What I'm wearing:
Dress: made by me; Stevie pattern by Tilly & the Buttons, fabric from Domesticity
Coat: ASOS via Poshmark
Leggings: old
Boots: DSW
Earrings: Baublebar, gift
Necklace: super old
Eyeshadows & lipstick: Winky Lux
Eyeliner: Milani 'the Tank'

A pink and black outfit is a Halloween first for me, and it's definitely different—but I had to wear this coat with this dress to bring out the pink details in the fabric design. And I was actually excited it was chilly enough to wear this coat!

So, the dress. I love this fabric—it's from the Art Gallery Fabrics Spooky & Sweet collection, and the details on it are so good and well done. I debated which pattern to use—the Stevie, the Fen, or a sleeveless Lotta—but despite the Instagram poll, went with the Stevie. I sewed this in parts over the course of a week, and I made myself slow down a bit. Maybe it was because I've already made a good amount of Stevies, but I didn't get impatient and I'm very happy to say I did not mess up a single thing while making this garment. That is super rare for me, honestly! I took the time to hand sew the button and the button loop and I think it definitely made a difference—at least in my mind.

We're having a quiet Halloween at home (because COVID) but I'm looking forward to making some apple crisp and getting some stuff done that I've been putting up.

Are you dressing up for Halloween?

Stay safe everyone! 🎃
