fall layering with ModCloth!

ModCloth recently reached out to my for my favorite fall layering looks, using some of their cute fall items.* So here they are! I did two different sets in two slightly different styles, since my style tends to vary from day to day.

(Click the smaller pictures for links to the products.)

black & plaid fall layering with ModCloth

Obviously this sweater belongs in my wardrobe, and this is definitely how I would layer with it for a cute, fall, stylish cat lady look. I stuck with mostly monochrome tones, with the exception of the red plaid shirt, where the collar would pop out when layered under the sweater, giving it some interest. Finish it off with some red jeans for some more color or a black skirt to keep it monochrome. Add these cute combat boots to make it a little more punk-rock, and this necklace (sadly currently sold out) for a little something extra.

Now for something more colorful! Start with a white base, then layer on a nice goldenrod top (the collar & the fact that it's a button-down make it totally work appropriate too), and this schnazzy geometric cardigan to keep warm! The monochrome palette of the cardigan makes the gold stand out, without overwhelming the whole outfit. Add some tan peek-a-boo boots, a gorgeous crystal necklace, and a matching black and gold beanie to pull the whole thing together. And I'm thinking a black skirt with some black or patterned tights.

Here are a few more of my favorite sweaters and tops:

The great thing about ModCloth is they have something for every style, and at great price points. So if you need some new fall layering items, you know where to start.
