DC Sip & Swap!

Before last Thursday, I had never been to a clothing swap. Finally, the Swapaholics came to DC, so I decided to try it out. It was a lot of fun, and I highly recommend going to a swap if you have the chance – even if you don't score a ton of awesome new clothes. I finally got to meet fellow blogger and ModSquad member Katie from Today I Want, as well as Hannah from She Could Be A Pharmer. It was so much fun. We got to talk, meet new people, and Katie & I were interviewed by an intern from NPR! We also met the lovely Alina from the Feast, who was covering the swap.

And now, pictures! Katie was awesome enough to take my outfit photos while we hung out on the top of Clarendon Ballroom.

I'm wearing:
Dress: Oasis
Belt: Oasis
Bag: Cath Kidston
Necklace: Clea by Annie Costello / UO
Sunglasses: H&M
Shoes: Shelly's of London / Streetwalkers in Brighton
(Note: these are available on ModCloth, but that's actually not where I bought them!)
Katie & I on the rooftop!

I had so much fun with these girls, so glad I met all of you!

And, right before the swapping madness began, I had the pleasure of meeting District of Chic!

And before we knew it it was time for swapping! Seriously, it was like the running of the bulls. I stood back a bit because I didn't really know what to expect, and I didn't want to get run over! It was civilized madness, though. I survived the craziness and emerged with a few new items, namely a light blue knit sweater and an adorable magenta mod-style dress.

Once we were done swapping, we went over to the "photo booth" area before heading out.

Also, how cute are all of their outfits?!

Since Katie towers over the three of us (and most people) normally, we decided she was the swap monster!

And that was my first swapping experience! I would've taken more photos, except that once I got there I realized my camera battery was dead (I was not pleased). Thankfully, I had backup from multiple sources. You can read Alina's article on the swap here.

Have you ever been to a swap? What was your experience like?

Have a great rest of the weekend!

  4. Thelma - Thanks so much! I looooove those shoes.

Mackenzie - Hopefully they'll have another one soon. Oh definitely! Georgetown is a must, so much good shopping there. I also like the U St Corridor, there's a couple great venues there. There's a lot of hidden treasures in DC. Let me know when you get to the area!

Punky - Thanks for coming to DC! It was nice to meet you too! :)
