golden hour.

Wait, it's Wednesday already? How did that happen? I meant to post the last two days, but I've been exhausted and had a ton of other things to do.

As I mentioned a few days ago, Hannah and I had a super fun photoshoot with the goal of trying out the Brenzier method. Let me tell you, it's not easy. We ventured out to Manassas Battlefield Park and took a ton of pictures during "golden hour," around 7:30pm. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, even my two successful Brenzier photos!

FYI - impending image overload.

The second one is crooked, but I kind of like it.
To see Hannah's Brenzier photos of me, click here!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures I took of Hannah (non-brenzier).

And of course, we had to take jumping pictures. And I turned them into gifs.

Enjoy our spazzy jumping endevours.
(I'd also like to mention we did these running jumps in heels.)

five photo friday: happenings via instagram.

Happy Friday! Apologies for the lack of posts this week, it's been a busy one.
I'm posting earlier than usual because I'm working remotely today, which was a weird blend of home in the morning (yay iced coffee at home!), stopping at the store, driving, and now hanging out at my dad's house & working. We're taking a quick trip up to Long Island this weekend to visit my grandparents & family and driving up tonight—I plan on sleeping for most of it (yay not having to drive!).

Anyways, here are a few snapshots from my week:
Part of the table spread for our apartment warming party, featuring baked rice with dried cherries & brown sugar, trail mix, strawberry lemonade cupcakes, pasta salad, and homemade fondue!
Bunnies on my latest purchase, an adorable dress from TJ Maxx ($12!!!), and a cameo necklace from QuarterLife.
Shot from a super fun photoshoot with Hannah. I can't wait to post all the photos!
Pretty wild flowers at Manassas Battlefield Park, where we did the photoshoot.
Dinner last night: homemade salad of baby spinach, parmesan cheese, and grilled chicken, with a side of brown rice. Delicious & healthy!

Have a great weekend!

dippin dots.

Happy Monday! I'm sad the weekend is over, but thankfully it was a very successful weekend. Our apartment warming party went wonderfully! I'm so pleased; it was so great to see so many good friends, and everyone meshed well and brought food and ate our food (and we even got some presents!). It was great. And then Sunday started with some much needed sleeping in, and then my boyfriend brought me homemade pancakes in bed! So awesome.

Here's an outfit I wore about 2 weeks ago and for some reason it got lost in the shuffle.

I'm wearing:
Blouse: vintage via QuarterLife
Skirt: Express, gift
Booties: DSW

This blouse reminds me of the Dippin' Dots logo, no matter what I do—but in the most awesome way possible. I figured for my first time styling it I'd let it be the center of attention, and go with my basic black A line skirt & heeled booties. How would you style this blouse?

Have a great week!

five photo friday: glimpses & details.

Happy Friday! As tomorrow is our apartment warming party (eeep!) I thought it would be appropriate to post some pictures I took of some details in the apartment for today's Photo Friday.

Without further ado...

Shoe shelves in my (er, our) closet.
One of my little succulents.
My terrarium, which recently had a new addition (not pictured).
Antique illustration hanging on the wall.
Accessory nook in the closet.
Top shelf of my makeup stand.
My pins.
Large bracelets & cuffs.
Bulletin board filled with necklaces!
Rings & earrings.
Antique jewelry box, little nicknacks, roll of film I need to have developed, and antique hand mirror.
And finally, my inspiration board! Which is a little crowded right now.

Have a great weekend!

pleats, lace, & wedges.

Looking back on it, this outfit is a weird amalgamation of sorts: lots of pleats, lace/crochet, and wedges. What do you think?

I'm wearing:
Dress: thrifted
Collar: Romwe
Belt: Target
Wedges: Old Navy

I thrifted this dress a while back because I knew it would be good for work, but have been hesitant to wear it despite the possibilities. It's longer than I usually go for with dresses, and there are a lot of pleats. I love pleats, but also cannot shake the old adage that they make your hips look bigger. And in this case, it's not wrong...but I am willing to forgive that, because it's my first try with this dress, and I think it has potential to not be a dowdy, thick hips inducing piece. What do you think?

Have a great rest of the week!

neon geometry.

I'm a slacker blogger, I know. Real life has been ridiculously busy lately, and everytime I finally get a minute to post, it's 11pm. Which it is now, but I'm going to post anyways. I've given up on getting to bed before midnight this week, which for now I will blame on my boyfriend starting his new 2pm-11pm work schedule.

This past weekend we ventured to IKEA, that mystical land of all things Swedish & stylish, with my goal of getting a cool cabinet/desk and more plates. And you know, any other unnecessary but pretty things that I found in the marketplace area. But, of course, the cabinet/desk I had picked out was out of stock in the color I wanted (black, since everything on my side of our room is black or dark brown). Very disappointing. But I got a cute serving tray, a new planter, and a new succulent, so the day was not lost. The upside was afterwards we went to our favorite little bistro in Old Town Occoquan for a delicious brunch.

On that same day, I wore a new dress! I found this at Target a few weeks ago and for some reason have been waiting to wear it. It's a little on the low-cut side, but it's a sweetheart neckline so I couldn't resist. For this day I styled it with my trusty black crop top.

Photos by my boyfriend.
I'm wearing:
Top: Old Navy
Dress: Target
Boots: Palladium, gift from years ago
Belt: Oasis
Bag: vintage Coach
Necklace: Urban Outfitters
Bracelet: DIY

Neon and chevrons? It's a trendy hipster's dream! It's also that really comfortable, jersey cotton fabric, making this one of the perfect summer sundresses.

Now, time to pretend I'm actually going to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Have a great week!

mustard & lace.

The week is already half over?! Thank gawd for that. Unfortunately when I'm at work the time drags, and when I'm at home I never have enough time for all the things I want to do. I did, however, have time on Monday to take outfit photos of one of my favorite new outfits.

I'm wearing:
Top: vintage via Quarter Life
Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft, thrifted ($5!)
Sweater: Land's End, gift
Wedges: Chelsea Crew
Earrings: Urban Outfitters
Pin: antique
Lipstick: Clinique

A couple months ago I realized I did not have a single shred of yellow in my wardrobe, and I'd been afraid to try anything mustard colored because I thought it would clash with my super pale skin. However, when I was helping out Lisa at the Quarter Life booth at Fenton Street Market and saw this top, I decided to challenge that. Add some dark-ish lipstick, and ta-dah! I actually really like the way it looks. I'm also super excited about this skirt because I've been looking for a good pleated skirt that isn't too short or too long. Plus, it was $5, so who cares if it's a little big on me?!

I decided to add in the little antique pansy pin because it's the same shade of yellow and it's so cute! And the sweater needed something. My favorite antiques & jewelry store is going out of business, and this little pin was one of my purchases on my last trip.

Check out our new rug! Not only is it antique, but look at all the pretty colors! I love it. And it was only $20! Take that, rug I would've gotten from Target or Ikea that would be substantially less awesome.

Hope you're having a great week!
