wednesday wishlist: vintage & cutesy.

Happy Wednesday! Today is one of mine & my boyfriend's "moniversaries" (anniversary, only in months!), yay! (D'aww, I know.) And this evening I'm going out to meet some fellow DC bloggers! It should be a good time. Anyways, here's what I'm pining for this week:

Vintage CORO Goldtone Filigree Lavender Pink Rhinestone Necklace, $32
How gorgeous and unique is this necklace?! Perfect statement piece. And just plain shiny (which is always a good thing in my book).

Vintage Wooden Rose Purse, $24
Somebody please buy this adorable little bag/box/purse so I don't snag it and leave it sitting on a shelf when it should be out and used. So cute.

Lace Bib Knit Dress, $30
The perfect summer sundress (I like the mint color).

"World's Smallest Lookbook" Necklace, $35
This necklace is just so cool. I love the vintage Barbie fashions & silhouettes.

Antique Lace Dress, $64
One of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen, hands down. I showed this to my friend/co-worker and she immediately said, "I want to get married in that!" I could see that.

Ampersand Letterpress Necklace, $35
This shop, Gwen Delicious, has some of the coolest jewelry ever—using old letterpress keys! As a typography geek, I believe I require one of these necklaces.

Have a great rest of the week!

mod & swapped.

Hello lovelies! I'm up late posting because these photos are a bit overdue. This is the dress I snagged at the swap, a cute little mod inspired shift dress. And long enough to wear to work! Anyways, this was my first attempt at styling it. (Also, these photos were taken at night in poor lighting, so if they look weird that's why.)

I'm wearing:
Cardigan: Delia's
Dress: swapped
Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: made by me
Shoes: Cooperative / Urban Outfitters

How would you style this dress?

summer spectrum.

A post on a Saturday?! Gasp! Hope everyone's having a fun and air conditioned weekend!

Here's an outfit I wore a week or so ago, but it's perfect for the heat wave we're having here in the DC area.

I'm wearing:
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Swarovski; gift
Socks: Gap
Shoes: Blowfish Shoes

(Photos by my boyfriend.)

I finally caved and got these adorable "Baku" wedges from Blowfish when I saw they were on sale a few weeks ago. Granted, nearly every blogger has them, but they're soooo cute & I've been looking at them for months. Besides, I do not own enough wedges (which I need, because I kind of fail at walking in a heel more than like an inch and a half). The one thing I don't like is that the canvas lining inside the shoe is pretty rough, and tends to rub against your skin rather harshly (hence the socks). But, I like these because I think I can definitely wear them into fall (when socks are more appropriate!). These are my first pair of shoes from Blowfish, and I do quite like them. I see so many Blowfish sponsorships and giveaways on blogs, it's a miracle it took me this long to get a pair!

What's your favorite pair of Blowfish shoes? Or your favorite pair of wedges?

Anyways, have a great rest of the weekend!

color pop.

I've discovered that while working in an office where most people have rather monochromatic palettes, it's nice to add some color once in a while. (And because I'm an intern, I get a little leeway with my outfit choices, thankfully.) And though that may sound kind of cheesy, but wearing black & white every day of the week can be a tidbit boring (and to contradict myself further, you can never go wrong with black & white).

I'm wearing:
Top: Pins & Needles / Urban Outfitters
T-shirt: Forever 21
Skirt: American Apparel
Shoes: thrifted
Necklace: made by me
Blazer: no idea, probably Macy's

This is one of my comfiest outfits, which is awesome because I can wear it & still manage to look business-like! Awesomesauce. I also wore this outfit for the long drive up to Long Island last Friday (after switching from heels to converse), and it continued to be quite comfortable. And I will never, ever get tired of this top (I love it so much I have one in red too), they're so versatile & comfy.

Anyways, I am now off to bed in order to wake up on time for work. Two more days til the weekend!

Oh, and in case you missed it: I have a Twitter now! For those of you non-tweeters, there's also Facebook.

Have a great rest of the week!

wednesday wishlist: contemporary vintage

The week is halfway over, huzzah! Let's celebrate with some online shopping, yees?
Parisian Macaron & Gem Truffle Box, $16
Um hi, how adorable are these?! I think I would even have trouble eating them, they're just so pretty!

'Think' Recycled Wood Sign, $42
Seeing as I will (hopefully, fingers crossed) have my own apartment this time next year, I've been thinking a lot about how I want to decorate, and I've decided I would love to have a sign like this. I love the typography, too!

Vintage Floral Tapestry Bag, $24
I've been seriously considering snagging one of these gorgeous vintage floral tapestry bags I keep seeing on Etsy. My only concern is that I would be afraid to use it because it's too pretty!

Double Peacocks Necklace, $24
I've never been a huge fan of art nouveau art, but I really like art nouveau jewelry, like this double peacock necklace. It's so unique.

Thulian Plated Dress, $47
A reasonable neckline, pretty shades of pink, and, my favorite, tulle! Do want.

Keep up the Lace Rainboot, $58
I don't own a pair of rainboots. (Strange, right?) These lovely boots make me want to change that, stat.

What's on your "to buy" list?

redesign in progress!

I have about two sets of outfit photos waiting to be posted, but I should really be in bed by now so they will wait until tomorrow. However, I wanted to let you all know about a few changes 'round these parts:

• I am in the midst of a redesign! What do you think so far?
• I broke down & got a twitter.
• My facebook page now has it's own username/URL!
• I just ordered some schnazzy new business cards!

That is all for now, have a great night & a great week!

DC Sip & Swap!

Before last Thursday, I had never been to a clothing swap. Finally, the Swapaholics came to DC, so I decided to try it out. It was a lot of fun, and I highly recommend going to a swap if you have the chance – even if you don't score a ton of awesome new clothes. I finally got to meet fellow blogger and ModSquad member Katie from Today I Want, as well as Hannah from She Could Be A Pharmer. It was so much fun. We got to talk, meet new people, and Katie & I were interviewed by an intern from NPR! We also met the lovely Alina from the Feast, who was covering the swap.

And now, pictures! Katie was awesome enough to take my outfit photos while we hung out on the top of Clarendon Ballroom.

I'm wearing:
Dress: Oasis
Belt: Oasis
Bag: Cath Kidston
Necklace: Clea by Annie Costello / UO
Sunglasses: H&M
Shoes: Shelly's of London / Streetwalkers in Brighton
(Note: these are available on ModCloth, but that's actually not where I bought them!)
Katie & I on the rooftop!

Hannah, me, Katie, and Chloe
I had so much fun with these girls, so glad I met all of you!

And, right before the swapping madness began, I had the pleasure of meeting District of Chic!

And before we knew it it was time for swapping! Seriously, it was like the running of the bulls. I stood back a bit because I didn't really know what to expect, and I didn't want to get run over! It was civilized madness, though. I survived the craziness and emerged with a few new items, namely a light blue knit sweater and an adorable magenta mod-style dress.

Once we were done swapping, we went over to the "photo booth" area before heading out.
Chloe, Katie, me, and Hannah (again)
Also, how cute are all of their outfits?!
Since Katie towers over the three of us (and most people) normally, we decided she was the swap monster!

And that was my first swapping experience! I would've taken more photos, except that once I got there I realized my camera battery was dead (I was not pleased). Thankfully, I had backup from multiple sources. You can read Alina's article on the swap here.

Have you ever been to a swap? What was your experience like?

Have a great rest of the weekend!

five photo friday: summer snapshots.

Happy Friday! I am having a wonderful day. I'm going to start working on compiling a post about last night's swap, and hopefully it'll get posted soon. I'm off to Long Island, NY for the weekend very soon, but here are some photos to tide you all over! Constructive criticism welcome :)

So basically, I need a white summery dress and some summery wedges and I'll be all set.

Happy shopping!

classic colorblock.

Hello lovelies! I'd say happy Monday but honestly, today dragged, like a snail stuck in molasses. Anyways, here's an outfit I wore maybe a week or so ago? I picked up this vintage dress a while back at a vintage/thrift shop in the Haight in San Francisco, and this is the first time I've worn it. I know, ridiculous.

I'm wearing:
Necklace: thrifted
Dress: vintage
Sweater: Delia's
Heels: thrifted

Apologies for the slight blurriness, these were taken during the time when I misplaced my camera remote (but I found it!). Also, I'm not going to lie, this dress is a little tight on me. It's a Calvin Klein size 4 from god-knows-when, so I'm not terribly surprised that it's a bit snug in some spots. But I'm not giving up on it! Also, I'm wearing lipstick in these photos, le shock! The one red lipstick I have actually matched the rose from my necklace and the red in the dress.

What are your favorite colors to colorblock with? Have any pieces that do the work for you (like this dress)?

Oh, and for anyone in the DC area - the Swapaholics are coming to DC! Sip & Swap on Thursday at Clarendon Ballroom; details here!

Have a great week!
